Ons Jabeur Set to Return to 2025 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open
This will mark her third appearance at the event, held from February 1-8, 2025.
With less than 100 days until the 2025 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, Arab tennis icon Ons Jabeur has confirmed her return for next February’s tournament.
Jabeur, who was sidelined for nearly half of the 2024 season due to a persistent shoulder injury, will rejoin the court in Abu Dhabi at the prestigious International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City.
This will mark her third appearance at the event, held from February 1-8, 2025, which has quickly risen to prominence as a premier WTA 500 tournament on the Hologic WTA Tour.
The three-time Grand Slam finalist managed just one singles event after Wimbledon in July before stepping away to focus on rehabilitation and her charitable initiatives.
Now, fully committed to a strong comeback, Jabeur expressed her enthusiasm about playing in front of her devoted fan base in the region.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, one of my favorite tournaments, where the local support is truly special,” Jabeur said. “The past few months have been challenging due to my shoulder injury, but I’m determined to be at my best for 2025.
Competing in Abu Dhabi in front of such passionate fans is always an incredible experience, and it’s exciting to see the tournament’s growth with such strong player line-ups every year.”
Tournament Director Nigel Gupta welcomed Jabeur’s return, noting her influence on regional tennis and her connection with fans: “Ons’ commitment to the 2025 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open is fantastic news.
As a pioneering Tunisian athlete, her impact on the sport within the region is immense, and her presence at the tournament is a highlight for fans and players alike. We wish her a successful recovery and can’t wait to see her compete next February.”
A Premier Line-Up Expected in Abu Dhabi
Jabeur, who has achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 2 and holds five WTA singles titles, will join a strong roster of 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams, marking another elite installment of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open.
The tournament’s previous editions in 2023 and 2024 saw impressive fields and enthusiastic crowds, solidifying its status as a top-tier event.
This year’s edition featured eight of the world’s top 20 players, with notable performances from 2024 champion Elena Rybakina in singles and the doubles title secured by Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sofia Kenin.
With its continued support from Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the 2025 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open promises eight days of high-caliber tennis, building on the event’s success and further establishing Abu Dhabi as a hub for world-class women’s sports.
